Newsflash: Koh Thong Eng wins first gold of the National Schools Track and Field C’ships

Victoria Junior College student Koh Thong En speared down the first gold of the National Schools Track and Field Championships this morning when he won the A Division Boys Javelin (700g) at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium.

The 18-year-old, who set a new national junior record of 54.14m in the javelin (800g) at last year’s Singapore Open, threw 57.23m today to retain his A Division crown comfortably. 

His winning distance was more than two metres ahead of nearest rival Adriel Goh (Hwa Chong Institution) who hurled 54.71m for the silver.

HCI’s Justin Lee took the bronze with his best effort of 54.29m.

A Div Boys Long Jump: 1st – Joel Seow (Hwa Chong Institution) 6.71m, 2nd – Yvan Tseng (RI) 6.65m, 3rd – Lok Xinda (Victoria JC) 6.63m

C Div Boys Long Jump: 1st – Quah Lin Dang (Singapore Sports School)  5.95m, 2nd – Yusuff Abdul Rahman (St Joseph’s Institution) 5.94m, 3rd - Lemuel Low (RI) 5.74m
