It was another day of medals for Singapore’s track and field contingent at the Arafura Games today. But it was also yet another day of not-too-impressive performances.
Long jumper Nurul Jannah won a silver in the Women’s U-18 event but her best effort of 5.34m was a pale shadow of her national junior record of 5.68m which she set two years ago. The event was won by Australian Development squad athlete Kertisha Thompson who leapt 5.55m.
Dipna im-Prasad won a bronze in the women’s 100m hurdles. The 18-year-old cocked 15.61sec, just 0.21sec below her persoanl best and national junior record of 15.40sec which she set at last month’s Negri Sembilan Open.
Malaysia’s Azizah Ibrahim was strees ahead of the rest of the field, finishing in 14.92sec. Kertisha Thompson took the silver in 15.34sec.
